Lorraine "Rainey" Massie is an artist with vivid artistic ideas, a flair for creativity, extreme kindness and loves helping others. Rainey uses acrylic paint and various mixed media on quality canvas, which has been the joy to her full schedule for art, interior design and reaching her goals. The texture in her paintings create much interest and raise questions in reference to her mixed media style and technique. Creating art characters named after family, friends and face book followers, all hues are represented and embraced in her art. Rainey's art originals are available in all sizes, as well as, her work is commissioned for numerous interior design projects, celebrities and business offices nationwide. Always learning, Rainey travels frequently to visit museums, to support other artist at their events and frequents various gallery events. Known for mentoring and guiding other artist towards their goals and business success, her practical ideas, experience and analytical skills are welcomed by many. Rainey's art career, after a hiatus, began in 2005, when she learned of a child who did not like her dark brown skin or facial features. The first painting created was a character named Zora, which was inspired by a young child, who had hair locs, brown skin and bright colors were highlighted in the painting. This young child, the only one in her class with a darker brown skin tone, felt alone and believed that she did not fit in with her peers.  This child desired a different eye color, was unsure about her hair texture and cried to have a lighter skin tone. She had no self-esteem. She didn't see her own beauty. To her, beauty, popularity, intelligence and happiness were associated with lighter skin tones.  The smile and comfort, the child had knowing that the painting was because of her and for her - emotionally, she understood the message and now understands the difference in beauty, courage and self love. Always empowering and encouraging others to love themselves as they find their way in life, Rainey explains, "you must know that, what-ever you have on your to-do list or the many roads you travel during your journey to reach your goals, always remember that you are "worthy" of great things and blessings. We all should boost and promote others with grace, support and guidance. When you love yourself, walk in gratitude and kindness, in this critical world of racism, jealousy, hatred and bullying - you will always be blessed." Regardless of the message you interpret from Rainey's art, each piece has a heart hidden in the images. An advocate for Domestic abuse and stroke awareness, fans have placed her name in places that only TIME and the GRACE of God would allow. Surviving a broken neck and two strokes, Rainey's story is emotional and the perfect definition of DETERMINATION. Spending time with family and friends, shopping, go-go music and collecting shoes are a few highlights of FUN for Rainey.
